Use of the Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is allocated to schools in order to support students who:

Have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the past six year (FSM6).

Have been Looked After by the Local Authority for one day or more. Were adopted from care on or after 30th December 2005.

Left care under either a Special Guardianship Order or Residence Order.

For the academic year 2016/17 the pupil premium allocation awarded to Crookhorn College is £210,235. For the 2015/16 academic year the pupil premium allocation awarded to Crookhorn College was £222,533

Crookhorn College has used this additional funding to support students in a variety of ways, and has prioritised the use of the funding as follows:
  • Attendance Support Assistant
  • Behaviour Support Assistant
  • Behaviour Intervention Support Assistant
  • Increased Learning Support provision
  • Increased ELSA support
  • Breakfast Club
  • Nurture Group
  • Bilingual assistance for EAL students.
  • Social Skills Group
  • Anger management group
  • Provision of revision materials
  • Provision of subsidised college uniform

The progress of this group of students is monitored closely in order to ensure that this funding is directed towards support, activities and events that are going to have the biggest impact on the learning of this group of students.
Between 2013 and 2016 the attainment of students in receipt of pupil premium has increased from 15% achieving 5 A*-C grades in 2013 to 43% of students achieving 5 A*-C grades in 2016. This is reflected in an increased Progress 8 score for students in receipt of Pupil Premium from  -0.32 in 2014 to -0.15 in 2016.
