The House System

On entry to the college all staff and students are assigned to a tutor group in one of the four houses: Arundel, Goodwood, Petworth or Romsey. The Head of House is responsible for the overall pastoral care of the students in the house. These members of staff are assisted by two year eleven House Captains. They are supported by Sport Captains from all five year groups, who in turn are supported by House Monitors in each tutor group. They all play a vital role in leading the house and encouraging participation in all the activities.
Regular house assemblies, meetings, activities, displays and regular updates of points achieved on the house notice board all contribute to the house and their colours being a clear feature of school life, recognised by all.
Throughout the year activities are organised in sport, English, Mathematics, Science, PSHE and other subject areas. Every pupil that takes part achieves House Points; it really is the taking part that counts! Numerous cups are available to win each year including the Competitions Cup, House Cup, Attendance Cup, Sports Day Cup, and the Year 8 Hobbies and Interests Cup. The House System plays an integral part at Crookhorn by providing healthy competition between the four houses, promoting inclusion for all pupils through a variety of curricular and extra-curricular activities in which the individual can excel.
