GCSE Students Explore Christian Practices on Winchester Cathedral Trip
On Thursday 28th of November, twenty-four Year 9-11 GCSE students journeyed to Winchester Cathedral. The students took part in three bespoke workshops, to help to deepen their understanding of the Christian faith. They learnt about the importance and rituals in Holy Communion services, got to ask some probing questions to Rev. Julian and also took part in a mock Baptism. The students were exemplary in their engagement with the concepts being discussed and were impeccably behaved, representing the College brilliantly. It was a fabulous and enjoyable day. My thanks to Miss Potts and Mr Parkinson, who helped to run this trip.
“The Winchester Cathedral trip was really helpful for finding out how holy communion and baptism run, the types of prayers that they say during services, and asking questions to the priest, finding out his views on sensitive topics such as abortion and being able to see how he would have answered some of the questions on my recent mock exam were extremely helpful for research, and they were very interesting. The Christmas market was an extra bonus! Especially the cheese!"
- Millie, Year 11
"Today we went on an amazing enrichment opportunity, to enhance our knowledge of the importance of baptism and Holy Communion. This was directed by a priest giving amazing insight into how and why Christian practices are important. As a GCSE student, this was an amazing opportunity to expand my knowledge and learn things beyond the bounds of a classroom." - Annabel, Year 10
