Careers
Welcome to Careers at Crookhorn College
At Crookhorn College, our comprehensive careers programme is carefully structured to guide and support every student as they explore their individual interests, develop vital skills, and make informed choices about their future pathways.
Our careers programme is designed to support all students from Year 7 to Year 11 in understanding the world of work, exploring future opportunities, and developing the skills needed for success.
We are proud to say that our programme is aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring we deliver the highest standards of careers education, as recommended by statutory guidance.
Our ongoing commitment to careers has been recognised through the achievement of the Quality in Careers Standard—a nationally recognised award and one of the highest accolades a school can receive for excellence in this area.
Support and Guidance
We work in close partnership with students, their parents or carers, employers, education providers, and the wider community. These collaborative relationships allow us to offer a broad range of opportunities tailored to each student’s needs.
We have a full programme of careers education which will help students to develop the knowledge and skills to understand themselves, research the opportunities available, make decisions and move successfully on to the next stage.
We welcome all opportunities that Further Education, Higher Education, training providers, and employers can offer to help our students explore the full range of pathways available to them. View our Provider Access Statement.
Opportunities Provided
Our careers programme includes a variety of engaging activities that offer knowledge, experiences and guidance to students, such as:
- Careers events and workshops.
- Employer visits and talks.
- Personalised one-to-one guidance sessions.
- Workplace experience opportunities.
We are proud of our links with employers who work closely with students through work placements, visits, talks, interview preparation, careers fairs, and work-related learning events.
In Year 10, students have the chance to participate in two weeks of meaningful work experience, helping them gain practical knowledge and confidence as they consider their next steps. View our Work Experience.
Measuring and Assessing Impact
The effectiveness of our careers programme is regularly measured and assessed to ensure it meets the needs of students by the Careers and Enterprise Company using the Compass Plus Tool. In addition, key stakeholders (students, parents, teachers and employers) provide feedback on their participation in activities via questionnaires, surveys and focus groups throughout the year.
