Crookhorn Students Shine in Money-Savvy Challenge

Congratulations to Emily, Millie, Grace and Sophie who were all winners in our recent Citizens’ Advice Havant Money Question competition. As well as receiving detailed responses to their questions, they have each taken home goodie bags including One4All vouchers and a selection of Work Out Your Money merchandise!

Last half term, we welcomed Fiona and Kev into the College to deliver assemblies to all four Houses. They explained who Citizens’ Advice are, talked about their Work Out Your Money project and recapped the different ways in which they work with our students throughout their time at Crookhorn.

The main focus of these assemblies was on what it means to be a young carer, the importance of understanding and supporting young carers in our College community and the introduction of an exciting new project aimed at doing just that. Watch this space for updates on the new young carers support group that we are looking forward to getting up and running in the Spring Term!

At the end of the assembly, all students were encouraged to challenge the team of money experts by submitting a question about managing your money – be it earning, saving, borrowing or spending – the more thoughtful/complex/challenging the better. With over 200 entries, Fiona and Kev were most definitely challenged!

We will now be working together with the money experts to make use of all of the competition entries to inform our PSHRE content moving forward.
